Q : I have heard about boot & bios passwords but what the hell is a hardware lock??
Asked by : suhas anjaria
N I S H :
Now hardware locks ,,
you must be knowing about some softwares which do not work without Cds .. right? you try to run them and you get a error message saying " Please enter the xyzw cd in the cd tray"
Now why is that? because some files are not copied into the computer .. they are retrieved from the Cd into the RAM during runtime.
THis is what also happens in hardware locks ... Hardware lock devices or "dongles" are hardware modules that connect to your computer and communicate with software running on the computer in such a way that the software will not function fully or at all without the hardware lock device attached. They donopt have files everytime .. Some times there r highly encrypted algorithms which when matched it works ..
Some lock devices even have real-time clocks to keep track of date and time information, such as when an application's temporary or demo license is set to expire.
Q : can anyone override the hardware lock?? I'd like to know!
By Amit Shenoy
N I S H :
ya amit it is possible to override a hardware lock ..
One has to match an exact algorithm and override RTC embedded in the electronic circuitry.
Somehow , its  a bit bit difficult than cracking passwords of softwares ..
Q : What is  spyware. I am running system on windows ME. can you please recomment a spyware remover, either free download or link
Asked by : Swapnil Shukla
N I S H :
Hello swapnil, spyware = spy +software It is a software planted on your system to capture and reveal information to someone outside your system. It can do such things as capture your keystrokes while typing passwords, read and track your e-mail, record what sites you visit, pass along credit card numbers and so on. It can be planted by Trojan horses or viruses, installed as part of freeware or shareware programs you download and run, installed by an employer to track your computer usage, or even planted by advertising agencies to assist in feeding you targeted ads.
In layman terms, spyware can be considered as a theif, but silent. You dont know that the theif has entered your premises, and it works in background. Its not a virus . It doesnot damage your system but can leak data.
Leno Anand :
I would suggest Lavasoft-Ad-aware-Personal and Spybot search and destroy, both these tools were recommended by the Hindu and many other internet sites and highly reliable.  You can download them free.  Ask them in the google search and you can get them free.
suhas anjaria :
look swapnil.............there are lakhs os spywares that are present on the net ..so only i program wont do u can use this package
1: spyware doctor
2: ad-avare pro
3: zone alarm pro
4: spybot search n destroy
if u want links just reply here
use this & ur pc will be free of spyware
Q : What is hibernation ? Can u tell me how to hibernate? Can u tell me wht will be the affect of hibernation...
Asked by : ABHAY CHAUHAN
N I S H :
Hibernation  means - An inactive, dormant, sleeplike state, in which the total funtions of systems though inactive, are preserved
Now,
In windows you have a special in built utility that allows to hibernate. hibernation allows all of your work to be saved as it is. It will stop the process,But keeo the window open .
For example, Suppose you are working in some heavy duty softwares which will take lots of time to save and somehow you need to shut your computer, This means you will have to loose that work. Hibernation will overcome this problem.
Try this: open two three notepad windows .. write some garbage in it, dont save it. Now if normally you shut the windows, these will be lost but if you click on hibernate and then shut down , you will get everything as it is.. on the screen ..........
How to activate hibernation!!
Under Windows 98, Me, or 2000 there was an option in the shutdown dialog box to enter the computer into hibernation (where all the content of the RAM is copied to the hard disk). The shutdown dialog box of Windows XP doesn't offer any longer the hibernation button. Some users may get confused about how to enable the hibernation mode. If this mode is supported by your motherboard (ACPI) you have to do the following:
1 Click Start and Shut Down,
2 Point the standby button and maintain the shift key pushed,
3 A new hibernation button appears: click it while still holding the shift key: voila your  PC will hibernate
